The Unfamiliar Name

The Podcast

The Unfamiliar Name began in 2016 as an interview show recorded on a handheld recorder. The first guest was the painter Bruce Herman, and the question underneath that first conversation is still the question underneath everything here: if God is beautiful, why shouldn’t his house be?

In September 2021 I relaunched it with video, a proper set, and a plan: to think out loud about worldview, to read Jordan Peterson’s 12 Rules for Life next to the Bible and see what held up, and to talk with people I wanted to learn from. Archbishop Craig Bates, Sean McDowell, my uncle Fr. Kenneth Tanner, and Bruce Herman again, this time on camera.

I laid the podcast down in 2022 when the work of the parish and of Three Streams United took its place. The episodes are still worth your time, and they are all on YouTube.
