One of the most encouraging lines I have ever heard was written by Jon Foreman: “Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell.”

That line plays in my head so many times when I am tempted to allow guilt to swallow me whole, when I have that feeling that I don’t want to go to God because He will see me naked. “Who told you that you were naked?” Not God certainly. God’s language is all about clothing us: in His image, in new clothes, in clothes white as snow, in His righteousness. It’s all about Him. Oh so wallowing in self-loathing, self-pity, or guilt is actually selfish? In a way, yep. Run to God. Remember the goodness of the Father. David was not known as a man after God’s own heart because of his perfection or success, but because when he sinned he went to God, when he succeeded he went to God, when he hurt he went to God, when he rejoiced he went to God. He was a man who was after God’s heart. He wanted it in every situation. He extolled himself to constantly remember God’s heart. The next time you feel down, slimy, untouchable just remember the love that Christ showed to the woman who touched the hem of His cloak. She was healed and Jesus said, “Take heart daughter, your faith has healed you.” O Lord that we would have such faith to trust that the Father is always waiting to give us good gifts and affirmation. If you do nothing else, please journal sing or speak to God the Father who wants to meet with you wherever you are at.
much love in Christ,
